The latest report from Counterpoint Research looks at last year's revenue for smartphone manufacturers. Smartphone vendors in 2021 received a total of 448 billion USD revenue, which is 7% more than in 2020. The average selling price of smartphones rose 12% to $322 on the back of growing demand for 5G devices. Approximately 40% of all 2021 of smartphones shipped had 5G connectivity, an 18% increase over 2020.
Apple is once again at the top of the ranking, with total revenue of $196 billion. USD and accounts for 44% of the total revenue in the smartphone market. Apple has seen increased demand for the new iPhone 13 series and continued interest in the previous generation iPhone 12 models. Fifth place went to BBK's other subsidiary vivo (BBK also owns Oppo), whose revenue reached 34 billion. vivo smartphones had an average sale of $259.
